Why You Should Consider Having Me as a TutorABOUT ME: I am a 22-year-old female currently working as a preschool teacher and a student at CU Boulder majoring in psychology while working towards receiving my elementary teaching license.
GOAL: (1) To ensure my student learns in a fun and stress-free way, and (2) to form a strong teacher-student relationship with each and every one of my clients. METHODS: For languages, I use textbooks and workbooks as the bulk of the learning material and also provide a variety of other materials such as video clips and song lyrics. For art, I give guidance and critiques, demonstrate concepts, and provide hands-on experience for my students. For mathematics, I form lesson plans and provide worksheets. For homework help, I simply sit with your child(ren) as they complete their homework and provide guidance when it is necessary. I am also happy to provide your child(ren) with workbooks in his/her/their appropriate grade level and assist him/her/them with completing it on top of homework. JAPANESE: I have been studying the Japanese language and culture for 8 years. Seven years was spent through diligent self-study and engaging in language exchanges with native Japanese speakers; one year was spent at my university. I know basic and elementary Japanese very well and will be working to pass the JPLT 3 exam! SPANISH: I took Spanish classes for 6 years, beginning at the age of 12. My last course (titled Spanish 4) was taught entirely in Spanish, and I am able to write compositions fluently in Spanish. I continue to study Spanish every day aside from Japanese. ART: I have always been artistically inclined since I was a small child. I am very knowledgeable in several artistic concepts such as perspective, light/shadow, composition, human anatomy, and more. I am also very comfortable using various art mediums and drawing in various artistic styles. Feel free to ask me to show samples of my work! MATH: I spent 3 years as a tutor/instructor working part-time in an after-school learning program called Kumon. From being in both the student and tutor position, I became very comfortable with mathematics and am able to confidently teach from counting objects to simple addition (1 + 1 = 2) all the way up to calculus and everything in between, including long division, decimals/fractions, pre-algebra, algebra 1+2, geometry, and pre-calculus. OTHER ACADEMIC WORK WITH KIDS: I am a preschool teacher and so have experience working with preschool-aged children. From singing songs, participating in creative movement (a dance class of sorts for young children), to making art, to learning about the world (whether it be space, Thanksgiving, etc.). I have also spent a semester coaching 8th graders in a program called AVID, and I spent one month during the summer helping a family's two children (consisting of one 8-year-old girl and one 10-year-old boy) with their homework.
